Access MVP (2010-2015)

Yes, I have an iPad…

…and before you get excited, no, I am not switching teams.  I am a PC!  And maybe I could have waited for the release of the Surface Pro (rumored to be Spring 2013) but I did not buy the iPad to develop on and I really wanted something somewhat quickly so I would not have to lug around my laptop.  So why did I buy an iPad?

1.     Much easier and quicker to take notes at meetings with Clients (or anywhere else, for that matter)

2.    Lighter and easier to carry than my laptop
3.    Up-time… unlike my laptop I really get 10 hours of up-time before I have to think about looking to charge
4.    Reading my eMail on something larger then my Phone
5.    No load time… turn it on and it’s ready to go!  And with HoursTracker I can start the App in 5 seconds or less!

5.    Driving directions

Comes in handy when I forget my GPS, has a free version… visit their website

6.    To Do List I can access via eMail

This is by far the best To Do List App I have used and it’s free!   I don’t even need to load the App to add items to my list, I just eMail them!  And, it’s accessible from my Windows PC or my iPhone… visit their website

7.    Tweet

8.    DropBox… giving me access to all my files

9.    Over 275,00, and counting, Apps for the iPad vs. Windows 8 Apps

Now, while it is true no one has all 275,000 Apps on their devices what they do have is variety.  The note taking program that works for me may not work for you… and because of the vast amount to choose from you are bound to find the perfect one for you!  AND the *free* versions work just as well as the *paid* version just with ads…  Tha’t right right, *free* does not mean missing or toned down functionality, more like, *try before you buy*.  (Not all Apps offer that but most I tried did.)

10.   Automatic syncing between my iPhone and iPad for most Apps I use and share between devices, like my calendar.

AND, of course…

11.   Angry Birds… yep, I have them all, great stress reliever!
12.   Words with Friends
13.   Where’s my Water?  (Okay, this one is for the Grandkids!)

A few other Apps I have found useful…

a.      b.      c.      d.      e.

f.      g.     h.      i.

Will I get a Surface Pro when it comes out?  It does have some nice perks, especially the USB port and the microSDXC card slot built right in… those items could come in handy!  But for now, my iPad does what I want, when I want and how I want and what more could one ask for?  So, I think I’ll hold out on the Surface Pro for now… but who knows, Spring may find me rethinking my choice!
